ACADEMIC PLAN FOR: WORLD HISTORY I, II, III, IV

I. Course Description
The World History course is designed to give students an overview of the geography,
history and culture of countries all over the world. In World History I &
II students will study the time from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. World
History III & IV covers the Middle Ages to the present. Along with the history
of Europe we also study the history and cultures of Asia, Africa and the Americas.
We will explore all of these times and cultures through multi-media presentations,
library and Internet research and textbook material. Occasionally community
outings will be scheduled that expand the students' exposure and knowledge of
the cultures and times of the peoples that we are studying.
II. Course Objectives*
Students will demonstrate knowledge of the events and important persons in history
as well as the cultural milieu surrounding the period of history they are studying.
*Individual IEP goals and objectives take precedence in all classes.
III. Criteria used to determine
grades
A. Classroom participation (note: attendance is required to receive a
Participation grade for that day - this cannot be "made up").
B. In class and homework written assignments
C. Final paper or project.

VI. Standards
The standards addressed will be: social studies standards 1.2, 1.3, 2.1; geography
standards 1.2, 2.1, 3.2, and 3.3.
